The Schmitt Family Story – Not Your Average Winery
Nestled in the beautiful Franconia region, Weingut Schmitt is a true hidden gem with deep roots. What started in the mid-40s when Ernst Schmitt first cultivated grapes on family land has blossomed into something special. Today, Anja and Frank Schmitt carry on their family legacy with the kind of passion that you can literally taste in every sip.
Their 30 hectares of vineyards spread across Bergtheim, Thüngersheim, Retzbach, Güntersleben, and Handthal produce everything from crisp Silvaner to aromatic Gewürztraminer. But what really sets them apart? Their commitment to eco-friendly practices earned them the EcoStep Wine certificate – basically nature’s high-five for doing things right.
The wines you’ll be enjoying at the party are aged in French oak barrels, giving them incredible depth and character. And while they make award-winning reds, whites, rosés, and even some killer sparkling options, there’s nothing pretentious about how they share their craft. It’s just really good wine made by really cool people.
