You heard it here first: Germany doesn’t wait until December to start sipping glühwein and hanging twinkle lights! Nope, the holiday magic kicks off early. If you’re looking for the best Weihnachtsmarkt November events, this roundup is for you! Whether you’re living here long-term, stationed abroad, or just wine-adventuring your way through the season, there are dozens of Weihnachtsmarkt November events you can enjoy before the December crowds arrive.

What to Know for Weihnachtsmarkt November Events Before You Go

November is prime Besen season in the Württemberg wine region. It’s when wineries open their tasting room doors as pop-up restaurants. You’ll know you’ve found one when you see a broom hanging outside! Expect Swabian dishes (Maultaschen, Schäufele, potato salad), communal tables, and wine poured directly by the winemaker. They are usually cash only, with no reservations. For a list of participating Besens, look here.

It’s also the month of St. Martin’s Day (Nov 11), one of the most charming village traditions in Germany. Kids parade through the streets with glowing lanterns, singing songs while parents sip Glühwein or the first pours of the new vintage. Most towns host a festival with food stalls, bonfires, and community celebrations! It’s the kind of tradition that makes you feel part of something special.
